Culture, Color, and Celebration: A Multicultural Kick-off to the Wedding Weekend

Nadia and Ryan, an American couple in love with Italy, chose a bucolic wine resort nestled in the rolling countryside near Lake Garda to begin their wedding journey. What started as a relaxing stay in a refined Italian wine resort transformed into a dazzling explosion of color and heritage, honoring the bride’s Indian roots through a joyful, multi-sensory Welcome Party.

The Vision: An Indian Oasis in an Italian Vineyard

Our goal as event designers was to weave traditional Indian elements into the rustic elegance of the Italian landscape. We reimagined the resort’s garden with vibrant textiles draped from gazebos and tables adorned with richly colored linens. The atmosphere was instantly transformative, blending the earthy scent of the vineyards with the spicy aromas of authentic Indian cuisine and the resort’s own estate-grown wines.

The Traditions: Pithi, Henna, and Rhythmic Beats

The evening was a deep dive into tradition. We organized an Henna Party, where artists adorned guests' hands with intricate Mehndi designs, while bindi jewels and traditional bangles were shared to bring everyone into the spirit. A central moment was the Pithi ceremony, when a shower of small candies was tossed over the couple, a traditional gesture of abundance and sweet beginnings that filled the air with laughter and celebration. To ensure everyone felt part of the story, the Mother of the Bride graciously provided traditional attire for guests (and even for us planners!), creating a truly unified and immersive experience.

The Celebration: From Dhol Drummers to Dancing in the Vines

The energy was electric from the start, led by the thunderous, rhythmic beats of a Dhol player and an Indian DJ. The celebration flowed from the wine bar out into the vineyards, where we staged a nomadic buffet that later moved into the resort’s veranda. It was a night of unbridled joy and spirited dancing, the perfect vibrant prelude to the wedding day that followed.
