Lakeside Intimacy in the Heart of Malcesine
A Sun-Drenched Celebration at the Scaliger Castle
For Lucy and Jay, a couple from the UK, the dream was a wedding that felt like a private summer escape. Choosing the historic Scaliger Castle in Malcesine, they gathered their 20 closest loved ones for a July day defined by golden sunlight, emotional vows, and the unmistakable charm of Lake Garda’s cobblestone streets.
The Vision: Authentic Italian Charm
Malcesine is a place where time slows down, and we leaned into its unique character to surprise the guests. The bride made her entrance in a custom Ape Car (an Italian-style Tuk-Tuk)—the only way to navigate the narrow, winding alleys of the village with flair. This playful touch set a joyful tone for the ceremony, which took place on the castle’s heights, overlooking the deep blue waters of the lake.
The Design: From Rustic to Refined
The challenge for this intimate group was to transform a rustic lakeside restaurant into an elegant dining space. We curated a tablescape that felt light and airy, perfectly suited for a warm July evening. A dusty blue chiffon runnercascaded down the table, providing a soft base for delicate white floral arrangements. To add a modern, bespoke touch, each guest’s place was marked with laser-cut wooden name charms, blending natural textures with sophisticated craftsmanship.
The Experience: A Stroll Through History
Following the ceremony and portraits within the castle walls, the wedding party enjoyed a leisurely walk through the characteristic vie of Malcesine. This transition allowed everyone to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of the town before settling in for a dinner focused on exceptional Italian cuisine and the unparalleled views that only Lake Garda can offer. It was a day centered on the simplest, most profound joys: great food, breathtaking scenery, and the company of those who matter most.
